ONLINE STOP PAYMENT ON A CHECK

You may request stop payment service for a check that has not already been accepted by American Community Bank & Trust for processing.  Please be sure to review your Account Transactions to determine if your check has cleared before submitting a request.  The bank must receive the stop payment order in time to allow the institution a reasonable opportunity to act on it. The stop payment daily online deadline is 6:00pm central time.

WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO PROVIDE THE BANK?

  • Account the check was written from
  • Check number
  • Exact check amount, including dollar and cents
  • Name of the Payee
  • Date written on the check

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE NECESSARY INFORMATION?

The Bank will honor only the exact information given to us; otherwise the Bank is not responsible.  Please contact the Bank if you are unsure of any of the information.

HOW LONG IS MY STOP PAYMENT EFFECTIVE?

Upon your accepted request, a stop payment order will be in effect for six (6) months.

IS THERE A FEE FOR THIS SERVICE?

Yes - a fee of $25.00 will be charged to your account.

WHAT IF MY ITEM IS AN ACH OR AUTOMATIC PAYMENT?

Online Stop Payments are only accepted for paper checks.  For assistance in placing a stop payment on an automatic payment or ACH item please contact the bank at (815)338-2300.

WILL I RECEIVE A CONFIRMATION?

Yes - please be sure to review for correct information.
